What exactly happened at the core committee meeting of the BJP held 2 days ago? Exactly what happened, that the BJP had to leave their believers, supporters and party workers confused by declaring that it will not be contesting for any post for the BMC yesterday? Why made the CM take such a massive step? Yesterday- Journalists, Political observers and bloggers went berserk with their Anti-CM stand and shaming CM Fadnavis on social media. They went on to the extend to describe this “arrangement” between Sena & BJP similar to that during the times of Congress & NCP. All these years the arrangement for any government was simple– Mumbai should be left to the Sena and entire state to the Cong-NCP or the ruling party. The stability of the government was questioned by many and, why I don’t know, but it was projected that Shiv-Sena will withdraw it’s support from the current government and make way for the mid-term polls. Many blamed Fadnavis for being “darpok” and willing to go to any extend to save his government.
Well, nothing of that sort was going to happen. Today, read approximately 16 papers and visited various online news portal to access the situation penned by our experts. Before jumping to tell you the OFF THE RECORD views, must tell of all the 16, only Yogesh Naik of Mumbai Mirror was able to bring in facts in front of the readers with dept and correct analysis. Others, tried to butter how it was a master strategy by the CM whilst others just took bytes from few leaders and published the press note as it was received in their mail boxes. None of them were ready to understand what exactly conspire. Let me try my hand at this…
Well, to begin with, yes, there was a little scare in the BJP in regard to the stability of the government–Shivsena has always been an agony aunt since Nov 2014—always complaining and nagging the BIG brother BJP over small issues. BJP or let’s say CM Fadnavis was never ever confident about them since the beginning. But the government had to run, also not at advice or orders from the Matoshri, but with transparency and giving results time & again. Since BJP was the big brother in Assembly polls held at 2014, it was obvious and decided as to who would be calling the shots. But the nudging and pinching of the Sena remained a continuous headache to CM or the BJP. Plus the infighting of the BJP… Never ever, at least I haven’t heard CM Fadnavis ever throwing a tantrum or badmouthing the Sena or hinting for support of the Congress & the NCP at the state level. Shivsena did that as well-blackmail BJP for any smallest reason. The came the BMC polls.
After the results, Sena was continuously in touch with all the top leaders of the Cong-NCP. But BJP had another plans altogether. If my sources are correct, it was decided that the Mayoral post will be that of the MNS party and BJP will whole-heartedly support the MNS. This was confirmed & decided at the core committee meeting held day before; thus taking control of the BMC.
News reached Matoshri. Frantic calls were made and as Yogesh Naik has put in the Mumbai Mirror, the frantic calls were actually the “compromise” calls. OK, tell me, since a week after the results have been declared for the BMC, have you heard Uddhav Thackrey or CM Fadnavis speak anything against each other. Before the polls, both of them had torn each others image to shreds. But nothing after the results. Why this? One more point to ponder.
If you ask me, this is indeed a master stroke by Fadnavis and proving yet again who is the Big Brother with a large heart. Big Brother has to always sacrifice. SO did Fadnavis & the BJP. But sacrifice came at the cost of strong, and permanent government for the next 2.5 years. Fadnavis ensured that first. Secondly, by appointing 3 retired IAS officers committee and Deputy-Lokayukta, Fadnavis has ensured his agenda of transparency. Whosoever rules BMC, the powers will be rested always with the MC and these bureaucrats. Ajoy Mehta- a direct recruit of Fadnavis–has proved time & again in regard to loyalty to his job and saved our city from many scams that were initiated but never took off.
Now comes the fun part. I think the CM & the BJP will wait for the UP and other state’s election results. With “undying” support to the Sena, CM Fadnavis has now successfully distanced Congress & the NCP & the MNS for good now. If everything goes as per plans and if BJP secures power in UP, believe me and take it writing Shiv-Sena will be given its own medicine very soon. My gut feel says, BJP will now assume the role of a nagging wife and time and again will nudge Shivsena over any small issue. No 1. they will ensure no corruption is happening, so that they can retain their image. No 2. none of the bureaucrats –who will be reporting directly to CM–will ensure any smooth sailing of any proposals passed at the Standing Committee. No 3. It will blackmail Shivsena the same way it has being doing at the state level since 2.5 years. Now this is what I call –TIT for TAT…
