Who will be the new Chief Secretary of Maharashtra ?
Current Chief Secretary Sujata Sainik is retiring on the 30th of this month, hence next in line Rajesh Kumar Meena will become the new CS; but even Iqbal Singh Chahal is in consideration and so is Bhushan Gagrani too.
But my intel says, CM Devendra Fadnavis will give everyone a chance to become the CS…For any bureaucrat, it is the final aspiration to retire as a Chief Secretary of the state in his life. Being CS even for 2 months changes a lot of things. Post retirement benefits, positions in any corporations post retirement so on and so forth, be it in the State or in the Center. Hence DF might be in a mood to give everyone a chance. The CM and both DCM’s will not make a mistake of choosing any other bureaucrat ‘out of turn’ as all 3 have burnt their hands the last time. Also, I don’t have any knowledge if current CS will be given any extension or not..Had that been the case we would have seen some movements in the CMO.
Going as per the logic and based on seniority Rajesh Kumar Meena will become the new CS, and when he retires in November 2025, Chahal will take over; and when Chahal retires in January 2026, Bhushan Gagrani will become the CS till his retirement in March 2026. Now who will get an extension as Maharashtra completely depends on the equations at that time…my bet is on Bhushan Gagrani..
