OFF THE RECORD review …
1. Once upon a time two best friends, two senior IPS officers are at major loggerheads due to a series of inquiries on one of them when he was the commissioner of this city. Unfortunately, his best friend replaced him and the new commissioner is forced to ‘fasten’ the enquiries, which the former commissioner is not understanding and thinking the best friend is trying to bring him down. Now the one who is in line of fire, if the Government changes hands in Maharashtra, he will be the next CP-Mumbai. Times change, tides change…
2. Senior-most ‘liaisoner’ cum builder cum businessman of our state is set to leave our country very soon. He fears ‘what if this (NDA) government’ does not come back? He fears he will be made a scapegoat. So he is telling people that the UK is the country from where he will operate from but he himself will have a hybrid life. 6 months here and 6 months there, but the family will be staying abroad permanently. Let him say UK, my sources tell me, it is CANADA.
3. I don’t think there will be any change in ACS Home. The additional charge will remain with CS Sujata Saunik. Iqbal Singh Chahal’s name was doing the rounds to be the ACS Home, but I don’t think that is happening.
4. Senior IAS Officer Nitin Gadre heading the GAD department has taken a VRS. Additional Charge of the GAD is given to Rajgopal Devara. Very soon even this post will be filled with a full time dedicated officer. Gadre was not the one to ask for a posting and he feared rather that getting side-posted or a non-relevant one, might as well come out of it with head held high. Sir, you will be missed.
5. Why do IAS officers do this? Two of them heading various corporations in Mumbai have not left any rights, be it of even Rs 50, with their junior IAS or Cadre 1 officers. They have passed an order saying that whatever the corporation does, it has to go through their sign. Not done, is it the greed to have everything for yourself or no trust in your second in command?
6. Is it true that the Mumbai underground metro (Line 3) operations will be managed by Delhi Metro Corporation? If yes, why so MMRCL and MMRDA? Boss, if in the next 2 years when all the lines of metro will be operational, a commuter will be forced to buy two tickets then right? Because he will buy a normal ticket for the normal metro then and if he has to reach his destination by using Line 3 he will again have to purchase a new ticket by standing in the queue as both have different operators. Why this MMRCL? Like how other lines will be managed by you, Let Line 3 be managed by the MMRCL only– why to involve other agencies and that too from Delhi who anyways will have retired officers of our own MMRDA team working for them…Please correct me if I am wrong in this information…
