Satyajeet Tambe Patil!
Readers, in the recent years especially after 2019, both parties in the opposition now i.e. NCP (Sharad Pawar) group and Shivsena (UBT) suddenly have gained a lot of support from the younger generation from all across the state. The reason for that is not only the craze of Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray-but other than this, one other factor that the youngsters of the state, especially who are following more caste based politics these days are the two young leaders of these two parties. They are Rohit Pawar and in the UBT it is Aditya Thackeray. Yes, Mano ya Na Mano, these two ‘boys’ have gained popularity in their own respective parties that the veterans struggled to get for years. Yes, they have a following. I have my own opinion about Rohit, but Aditya surely has become a more seasoned player now. If you ever want to know how Rohit is, have a word with one of PAwar’s. They will exactly tell you how opportunist and slyly clever Rohit is. Being blessed with very intelligent and achieving parents, Rohit should have used ‘merit’ to enter politics, but then he has made this mark by using various ‘sly’ tactics to impress the senior Pawar and come ahead in his political life.
They say, in the recently concluded Vidhan Sabha elections, Rohit had made an adjustment with Ajit Pawar. If my sources are not wrong, Rohit himself made sure in Baramati that Ajit dada gets more votes. No, there weren’t any promises by Ajit Pawar but, at no cost, Rohit wanted another YOUNG competition from the family in politics i..e Yugendra Pawar–who lost against Ajit Pawar. Rohit just wants the limelight on him always be it in his own party or outside. But then Rohit has also come from the ground level which makes him extremely popular in his constituency. Known as a very shrewd operator, Rohit has made a mark on his own. On social media, too, he has hired a few people who sit abroad and constantly are on a spree of spewing Brahim hatred all the time but then he has chosen his strategies.
On the other hand, I am very much impressed by Aditya Thackeray. Reason is, he has matured over the years and he has tried to make UBT’s Shivsena, more corporate. A close journalist friend of his who works in an English daily, had once told me that Aaditya is doing what Tony Blair wanted to do in England. Blair was always 5 years ahead of his times, and so is Aditya, this journalist feels. If you ask bureaucrats as to how it was to deal with AT, when the MVA was in power, no one has any bad thing to say about Aditya. But then, the fall out between the Sena and BJP, saw Aditya come out on his own. Remember it was him who coaxed Uddhav Thackeray to become the CM and it was him who had taken the pollution (environment) department with a storm when he was the Minister; but then it was all for a short period and it was backed by a lot of controversies. In fact skirmishes on social media between him and Aashish Shelar were always entertaining but then Shivsena’s ‘image’ haunted them badly and Aditya had to sit in the opposition today. Too much control in his hands at a very early stage of his political life, did upset the veterans of Shiv Sena. The ‘corporatization’ of Shiv Sena was not accepted by these veterans. And to top that Yuva Sena’s growing interference in many matters when MVA ruled Maharashtra, had angered these veterans.
Till now Mahayuti had an answer to these both youth leaders in the form of Dr Shirkant Shinde, Sarnaik sons, Ram Satpute, Nitesh Rane, Mohit Kamboj, Parth and Jay Pawar and so on and so forth. But the hidden gem that everyone has missed and who is slowly climbing the ladder and who is always a tough competition and if I may say so, a step ahead of Rohit and Aditya, is Satyajeet Tambe Patil. Yes, this youth whom Devendra Fadnavis spotted from Congress, today is an MLC in Maharashtra. Born in Congress house, Satyajeet took over the MLC after his father–Sudhir Tambe’s term in the upper house. Nephew to veteran Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat, Satyajeet is extremely polished when it comes to addressing urban matters and he knows the gourd level better than Rohit and Aditya, as he was ZP member for 10 long years which means he has the flair for rural politics too. He has also served as Vice President, Maharashtra State Youth Congress and was general secretary of Maharashtra State NSUI too. Satyajeet is fluent in all 3 languages (English, Hindi and Marathi), has studied abroad and travelled the world too. A perfect mix. He has a deep understanding of urban city planning and at the same time has tremendous rural appeal. And most important he is matured, balanced, his stomach is full and perfect material which BJP looks for in their generation’s next leaders.
Mahayuti should groom such leaders to be the future of Maharashtra and give them opportunities to shine. In the Vidhan Sabha too, Devendra Fadnavis tested him and he came out as a winner. No, no, he wasn’t responsible for his uncle Balasaheb Thorat’s loss, I say so because I mentioned above–his stomach is full and he is matured and balanced. Family comes first for Satyajeet, and then politics. And to top that, Devendra Fadnavis never breaks, but unites families (e.g.Munde’s).
