IPS & much more….Part 1
Well, this blog will answer many of your questions in regard to the IPS postings that happened, are happening in this fortnight and that might happen in the future in Maharashtra. Many of us are inquisitive as to who exactly holds the charge of this department? Is it really DCM & HM Devendra Fadnavis who has absolute control or is it CM Eknath Shinde who has the final say. Who will become Police Commissioners (as now this is the last leg of transfers of IPS is pending) at Thane, Navi-Mumbai, Pimpri Chinchwad, Mira Bhayander & Pune? Is the famous ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ back, will Rashmi Shukla make a comeback in Maharashtra, who and how are the Mumbai new DCP’s, and many more such inside scoops and stories below…read on…
Well to begin with, let me clarify straight up! Even if Devendra Fadnavis has absolute control on his own Home Department many of you (In IPS circles) are arguing with me that Vikrant, we cannot see the famous Devendra Fadnavis stamp anywhere in the Home Department transfers or working. Answer–Fadnavis has a say but yes out of sheer respect to the post of the CM, Fadnavis lets Eknath Shinde take the final call. Of course, the list of whosoever and howsoever many transfers happening is scanned by Fadnavis, and yes he even influences one or maximum two postings be it IAS or IPS. Rest al postings across Maharashtra, CM Shinde gets it done, but not without showing it to Fadnavis. So in short, consent of Fadnavis is there, but Shinde is the boss!

To begin from the top, let me assure you that as of now for the next 3 months CP Vivek Phansalkar and DGP Rajneesh Sheth are not going anywhere. No, Rashmi Shukla has been asked to wait for the right moment. For the post of Thane Commissioner, current CP Jai Jeet Singh is due for promotion. So even if CM Shinde has excellent rapport with him, he will have to go. My money is on Amitabh Gupta who is trying very hard to get there. Navi-Mumbai can go to Vinoy Choubey, Amitesh Kumar of Nagpour can become Pune Police Commissioner, Brijesh Singh might get Pimpri-Chinchwad and Milind Bharambe might be the final choice as Mira-Bhayander Police Commissioner.
As for Joint Commissioner’s all posts will lie vacant soon, i.e. Law & Order, Crime, Traffic, Admin, & EOW. For the cream-la creme, the post of L&O, if there is a tough competition between K M M Prasanna and Dr Ravindra Shisve I have heard a lot of 2004 batch IPS are too keen to grab the spot ahead of their seniors…namely a fight has begun between Lakhmi Gautam, S Jaykumar, Satya Narayan and even Nishith Mishra is not left far behind. Now Vishwas-Nangre-Patil even if he is telling everyone that he wants to run Marathon’s and grab a side posting such as Force 1, I know that a “hero” cannot play the younger brother to the main hero in many films. Hero Hero hota hai, don’t know his equation with CM, but his name did pop up for Pune and Navi-Mumbai post.

See don’t hold me responsible if you see altogether new faces everywhere and not any of these names. I am a journalist who has sources, but again I am not an astrologer. Bhaisaab, where there is no guarantee of permanent government here, who can guarantee all this. Times change, priorities change, officers approach to dalaal’s change, so hang on, this is what should and might happen what I wrote, but again, I am not Eknath Shinde or Devendra Fadnavis.
Now the fun part- there is a new series on Netflix Called ‘Khakee-The Bihar Chapter’. The series on Netflix is in Hindi and it is about an IPS officer Amit Lodha’s bestseller Bihar Diaries. A typical stunt bureaucrat does to showcase his talent, grab eyeballs, collect sympathy and then demand cream postings all life. It is typical. I don’t even know who writes for them. By the way, if you ask 10 officers of Bihar and Delhi batch, their own opinion about Amit Lodha, like is a real dare-devil or what, the answer will shock you!!

I have got news for you. Just like this Lodha of Bihar, now an IPS officer of Maharashtra is planning a series on himself in his then written book, I don’t even recollect the name but it was on someone who had passed or failed at college. Heard actor Vikrant Massey has been approached to play the role of this Maharashtra cadre IPS officer. Badhiya Hai..I was talking to myself that just when this officer was coming out and hunting for a good posting, this move of a series on himself can backfire big time!!
As of now writing this much…There is a second part coming tomorrow–it will on Mumbai DCP’s and their transfers….Till then, have a good one!
