आपली मंत्री ताई पुन्हा अडचणीत! पुण्यातील एम. आय. टी. ला “वोट बँक” साठी ताई वाचवणार!!

रॅगिंग निश्चित वाईट असते. एखाद्या विद्यार्थी-विद्यार्थीनीचे आयुष्य उध्वस्त करून टाकतं. विशेषत: ग्रामीण भागातील तरुणींना त्यातून भोगाव्या लागणार्‍या नरकयातना अंगावर शहारे आणणार्‍या ठरतात. मुंबई, पुणेसारख्या बड्या शहरांमधील महाविद्यालयात शिकणार्‍या तरुणींना टवाळखोर तरुणांच्या गटाकडून लक्ष्य करण्यात येतं. त्यांचं शरीर, वागणं यावरून आश्‍ललतेचा कळस गाठणारी शेरेबाजी होते. अनेक महिने हे सुरु रहाते. ती  तरुणी त्या मुलांना शरण गेली अथवा तिचे संरक्षण करणारं कोण तरी असेल मगच मात्र हे रॅगिंग थांबतं. परिणाम वाईट होतील या भीतीने काही विद्यार्थी रॅगिंग सहन करतात पण काही करत नाहीत. रॅगिंग वर  आळा बसावा  म्हणून राज्य सरकारने कडक कायदा केला आहे .रॅगिंग करणार्‍यांना अटक करून त्यांच्याकर कायदेशीर खटले दाखल करण्यात आले. त्यामुळे रॅगिंग वर  काही प्रमाणात आळा बसला. विशेषत: बड्या शहरांमधील रॅगिंग थंडावले. रॅगिंग संपलं असा माझा समज होता पण तो चुकीचा ठरला.

पुणे शहराने तो चुकीचा ठरवला.  

रॅगिंगच्या या प्रकरणाने सम्पूर्ण पुणे  शहराला हादरून टाकलं. २०१४ सालच्या उत्तरार्धात पुण्यात रॅगिंगचे हे प्रकरण घडलं. माझ्या ब्लॉगमधून मी नेहमीच राजकारणी, पैसा आणि पैशाच्या बळाकर निर्माण केले जाणारे वर्चस्व  यावरील पडदे फाडत असतो. याप्रकरणात मात्र विषय वेगळा आहे. राज्यात आपली व्होट बँक शाबूत ठेवण्यासाठी राजकारणी कोणत्या स्तराला जातात हे दिसून येईल. ही स्टोरी

वरुण कांबळे या दलित विद्यार्थ्याची आहे. तो रॅगिंगचा शिकार झाला आहे. मात्र त्याच्या मदतीला न येता आपल्या जात-भाईसाठी पुण्यातील महाराष्ट्र इन्स्टिट्यूट ऑफ टेक्नॉलॉजी (एम. आय. टी) या संस्थेला वाचकायला सरसावलेल्या राज्यातील महिला मंत्र्यांची आहे. गेल्याकर्षी म्हणजे २०१४ मध्ये जुलै ते

सप्टेंबर महिन्यात वरुण कांबळेकर एमआयटीत रॅगिंग झाली. त्या रॅगिंगमुळे वरुण शारिरीक आणि मानसिक खच्ची झाला. वरुणने   रॅगिंगची तक्रार वर्ग शिक्षकांकडे  केली. पण त्यांनी ऐकलं आणि फारसं मनाकर घेतलं नाही. निराश झालेल्या वरुणच्या पालकांनी एमआयटीच्या वरिष्ठांकडे तक्रार केली. त्यावंरून या प्रकरणाची अंतर्गत चौकशी करण्यासाठी १० सदस्यांची समिती स्थापन करण्यात आली. वरूणवर रॅगिंग झाल्याचे सिद्ध झाले. समितीच्या सल्ल्यानुसार वरुणने  स्थानिक पोलीस ठाण्यात तक्रार केली.  त्यानंतर

एमआयटीच्या ३ विद्यार्थ्यांना अटक करण्यात आली.  दरम्यानच्या काळात वरुणला इतका प्रचंड मानसिक आणि शारिरीक धक्का बसला की त्याला सुमारे तीन आठकडे आयसीयू मधे दाखल करावे लागले. नव्या सरकारच्या पहिल्या अर्थसंकल्पिय अधिकेशनात; २०१५ साली कॉंग्रेसचे विधानपरिषदेचे आमदार अनंत गाडगीळ यांनी विधान परिषदेत या प्रकरणाला वाचा फोडली. हा विषय सभागृहात आल्याने अध्यक्षांनी या प्रकरणात चौकशी करण्याचे आदेश राज्य सरकारला दिले. त्याचदरम्यान राज्यात रॅगिंगच्या प्रकरणात वाढ झाली होती. त्यामुळे राज्य सरकारला ठोस पावले उचलणे भाग होते. वरूणची मानसिकता  पूर्णपणे उध्वस्त झाली होती. तो घरात एका कोपर्‍यात बसून राही. कोणाशीही बोलत नसे. त्याल्या आपल्याकरील अत्याचाराची कहाणी सम्पूर्ण  जगाला ओरडून सांगायची होती पण ऐकायला कोणीही नव्हतं. आमदार अनंत गाडगीळ यांनी एमआयटी मधील हे लज्जास्पद प्रकरण सभागृहात मांडले आणि त्याला वाच्या फुटली. राज्यातील एक मंत्री या प्रकरणात सहभागी झाली  आणि एकंदरीत या प्रकरणाने वेगळं वळण घेतलं.

वरूण आयसीयूट होता. त्यावर अनैसर्गिक अत्याचार झाले होते. मानसिक बलात्कार झाला होता. एमआयटी हादरली. त्याला भेटायला येणारा एमआयटीमधील प्रत्येक विभागप्रमुख बाहेर आल्यावर हादरून गेलेला असायचा, पण प्रत्येक जण वेगळीच कहाणी सांगायचे. आपल्या संस्थेत असं राक्षसी कृत्य घडले यावर त्यांचा विश्वास बसायचा नाही. गाडगीळांनी हस्तक्षेप केल्याकर इतर महाविद्यालय आणि संस्थेच्या चार मुख्याध्यापकांनी या प्रकरणी चौकशी करण्यासाठी समिती स्थापन केली. तो अहव्हाल प्रसिद्ध करण्यात आला नाही. पण एमआयटी नक्कीच अडचणीत होती. वरुणला समुपदेशाची आकश्यकता आहे असे निदान झाले. एमआयटीशी सलग्न एका समुपदेशकाने वरूणला हळूहळू बोलतं केलं. वरूणने त्यांच्याकडे आपलं मन हलकं केलं. त्याच्याकर झालेल्या अत्याचाराचा पाढा काचला. ९३ टक्के गुण मिळालेल्या वरूणने एमआयटीमध्ये पॉलिमर शाखेत प्रवेश घेतला होता. पण त्याचे स्वप्न चक्काचूर झाले होते. समुपदेशकाने त्याला पुन्हा साकरले. पण एमआयटी असुरक्षित झाली होती. रॅगिंगच्या आणि वरुणकरील अत्याचाराच्या बातम्यांनी तिची प्रतिमा डागाळली होती. त्यामुळे या प्रकरणाकर पडदा टाकण्याच्या हालचाली सुरू झाल्या. महाराष्ट्र अकॅडमी ऑफ इंजिनिअरींग ऍण्ड एज्य्ाुकेशनल रिसर्चचे कार्यकारी अध्यक्ष आणि संस्थापक प्रो.डॉ. विश्वनाथ डी कराड हे वंजारी समाजाचे आहेत.  त्यांचे जावई आता सनदी  अधिकारी सुद्धा आहेत. मुंबई मधे जावई बाप्पू चंगालेच स्थिरावले आहेत.  जेव्हा हे  आयएएस महाशय (झाकणे ) आणि एका दैनिकाचे पत्रकार नागपूरला जातात तेव्हा हे पत्रकारांच्या बॅगा उचलतात हे मी स्वतः पाहिले आहे. असो. 

मिळाल्या माहितनुसार आणि आपण याला जर खरे मानले तर, प्रो. कराड यांनी महिला मंत्र्याला फोन केला. या प्रकरणातून वाचवण्याचे आर्जक केले. वंजारी सामाजाला डाग लागेल अशी प्राथना  केली.  त्या महिला मंत्र्याने समुपदेशकाला स्वतः भेटायचे ठरवंले. महिला मंत्र्याने वरूणला वेडा ठरवण्याचे आदेश दिले. पण समुपदेशकही खमके निघाले. त्यांनी मंत्र्यांचे आदेश फेटाळून लावले. कराड आणि मंत्र्यांच्या कुठल्याही दबाकाला समुपदेशक बळी पडले नाहीत. हे समुपदेशक कोण माहित आहे? ते आपल्या मुख्यमंत्र्यांचे श्रीयुक्त देवेंद्र फडणवीस यांचे जवळचे नातेकाईक आहेत. त्यांनी मुख्यमंत्र्यांना सर्वकाही सांगण्याचे ठरकले आहे. पुन्हा एकदा या मंत्री बाई अडचणीत सापडण्याचे चिन्ह दिसत आहेत.  

Oops…Did she do it again?

Ragging is bad. A lot of students, especially women, in the
rural parts of our nation, still undergo this “welcome” silently, not wanting
to share their stories. But believe me, they go through hell. Women are often
targeted by a group of young “wannabes” in form of explicitness or remarks on
their physical appearances. This goes on for month’s altogether till they
become “friends” or till this woman has someone more powerful to protect them
at colleges/schools. Some students take it with a pinch of salt, fearing
consequences, some just don’t! Metro cities have in a way matured in terms of
ragging since last year, especially after the police came down heavily on some
of these “tough boys”. But I was wrong, Pune proved me wrong! This particular
case is of a BOY being ragged that shook the entire Pune in the second half of
2014. In this blog of mine, I will expose how Politics became an integral part
of this story. This case will show you how Castes play a crucial role in
securing vote banks in today’s political scenario of Maharashtra. This is a
story of a student named Varun Kamble. This is a story of a Lady Minister of
Maharashtra Government who came to the rescue of the prestigious Maharashtra Institute
of Technology at Pune, popularly known as MIT, just to protect her “jaat-bhai”.

Ragging, both mental and physical, of Varun Kamble happened
somewhere between July and September of 2014. After the complaint’s made to the
class teacher fell on deaf ears, Varun and his parents approached the MIT
authorities who in-turn formed a 10 member Internal Inquiry Committee. Later,
it was Varun who suggested filing a FIR at local police station then, which
matched the views of this Inquiry Committee. 3 boys were arrested then. This
whole process left Varun traumatized.  He
was admitted for several days in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for nearly 3 weeks.

Comes Budget Session of 2015. New Government’s first Budget
Session.  Congress MLC Anant Gadgil in a
marathon attention calling motion mentions about this particular case in the
Legislative Assembly. Not much had been transpired then, but surely after the
issue being raised in the House and a logical conclusion on cards, Speaker of
the House  asked the State Government to
intervene in the matter, as many other cases of ragging were traumatizing
Maharashtra then. Varun by then had opted rather to sit in one corner of house,
not speaking to anyone, but yet his heart wanting to tell his story to the
world. It was MLC Anant Gadgil who brought this shameful act happened in MIT,
Pune in the Legislative Assembly. Not much hue and cry was made about it then.
But this story took a turn on it’s head when a Minister of our current
Government decided to involve herself in this case, a few months ago. To recap,
when Varun was ragged and various “unnatural things” broke Varun  down, for 3 weeks Varun Kamble had to be
admitted at a hospital in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Various HOD’s of MIT
visited Varun in hospital each one coming out with a different story. After Government
intervention, thanks to Gadgil, a committee of 4 Principal’s from other
colleges and institutes was formed to intervene in the matter. The report was
never made public. As per the report, sources claim, MIT was surely  at fault. Anyways, Varun was brought out of
the ICU and he needed someone to be behind him, motivate him to come back to
life. In their last attempt to save the face, MIT suggested Varun Kamble needs
a Counselor. The attached Counselor to MIT met Varun and slowly but surely
Varun told her about all the bad things that happened with him. For a student
who had secured 93% and got into his dream institute to study Polymer, never
did he thought that his dream would turn into his worst nightmare for many
years to come. Anyways, counseling had certainly begun to pick up broken pieces
of Varun’s life, but MIT was growing insecure about it’s image and various news
circulating. They wanted the matter to be ended quickly. Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D
Karad, Founder, Executive President Maharashtra Academy of Engineering &
Educational Research (MAEER) belongs to the OBC Of Vanjari caste. His
son-in-law, is a promotee IAS a certain Doctor who carries bags and baggage’s
of Journalists’ whenever both IAS and Journalist travel to Nagpur.

 Anyways, allegedly, Dr.
Karad telephoned the Lady Minister of our Government and told her about the
issue. To “save” the face of this Vanjari samaj, this Lady Minister decided to
pay a visit to this Counselor personally. The Counselor was told by this
Minister to label Varun as “ A disturbed child” from the beginning which the
Counselor straight away refused and refuted.  This Counselor put her foot down and in no way
succumbed to the pressure, the Founder and Minister tried to impose. But
readers, do you all know who the counselor was? If I am getting my facts right,
the counselor is a very near relative of our beloved Chief Minister Devendra
Fadnavis, and I have learnt she plans to tell him everything, how caste spirited these Dr. Karad and  Minister are !!!
